    Biography Son of Alexander Silver; born Harvieston Farm, Kinneff, 14 September 1894 ; educated Gordon's College ; entered Aberdeen University to study Agriculture in 1912. At the outbreak of war he went with "U" Company to Bedford where he became a great favourite not only with his fellow-students but throughout the Battalion. Cooking for a company was no "catch" in those days, but "Sandy" cheerfully accepted the job with all the drudgery it entailed. In this capacity he left with the Battalion for France in February 1915. It did not take long under active service conditions to show that there was the real fighting stuff in Silver. After repeated attempts he got relieved of the job which afforded him comparative safety. Alongside his old fellow-students in the trenches, he was supremely happy. Hardships seemed less real when Silver shared them. He took part with the company in the attack from Sanctuary Wood (Hooge) on 25 September 1915 and was subsequently posted as missing.

    Biography Son of Alexander Silver ; born Kinneff, Kincardineshire, 15 July 1896 ; educated Gordon's College ; student in Arts, 1913-14. In May 1913 Silver joined "E" Company of the 4th Battalion Gordon Highlanders and was mobilized, August 1914, as a Private, After training he proceeded to France, where he served for a year. Silver then returned home, and entered the Cadet School, Gailes, to train for a commission, and in January 1918 was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant, Gordon Highlanders. He crossed to France in September, but his service was brief, for after six weeks he was killed in action at Douchy, 26 October 1918.

Confirming the sale last night, Mr David Gove <b>(Reg's brother-in-law)</b>, a director of R S BISSET said "The firm will cease to exist on March 31st but we will finish all our contracts." Bett Brothers a large firm with building sites and contracts at Dollar, Stirling, Perth, Kirkcaldy, and Dunfermline as well as Dundee will take over the Aberdeen firm's staff as well as their premises said Mr Gove. "TOO OLD" - The sale has been brought about through the ill-health of Mr Reginald S Bisset, head of the firm and one of the city's best known building contractors. Mr Gove, added "Apart from that, he and I are getting too old. In private building you have to look years ahead." Bisset houses have been a by-word in Aberdeen since the 1930s.     from Unknown Article (June 1907): DRUMOAK - In the UF Church on Sunday forenoon an appropriate reference was made by Rev W M Grant to the death of Mr David Bisset, son of Mr W Bisset, Nether Park. This young man who had been removed at the early age of 20 was loved and esteemed for his fine mind and amiable disposition, and had been successful in obtaining a prize of £3 during the past winter for an essay on an agricultural subject. The large attendance at the funeral yesterday testified to the respect entertained in the parish for him, and in the regret at the loss of a life of rich and ____ promise. On Sunday evening the annual youth service of the United Free Church, W M Grant spoke on the symbols of the Church, the burning bush and the dove and thereafter distributed 28 volumes comprising assembly and presbytery prizes gained by the young people of the church, in the Sabbath School and welfare of youth examinations. There was a large congregation and the brightness and enjoyment of the service was much increased by the excellent music of the choir with Mr Gill as organist. In the report of the Royal Horticultural Society just issued, it will be noted that Mr J M Brown, gardener Park House, has gained the diploma of the society for the gardeners examination. His place is 11th in the first class all over the Kingdom and hie is the first among all the Scotch candidates. <hr>
