Dear Emma,
I received your letter and was pleased to hear you got the box.
I was sorry it got so knocked about but never mind so long as the contents were there, tin boxes always get knocked about.
I succeeded getting my ticket by fail today after a great struggle. I leave her on the 28th Jan and I will see you all before very long.
I will go to Ada's first. More than likely Ada will meet me in Sydney. I can just imagine the fitting on of the things when the box arrived. I fancy I can see all the youngsters.
I was glad you had some rain. I hope the storm didn't affect you in any way. We have had some very hot weather lately and I shall be so glad to get away for a change.
I received a card from lady Jane* and it went into the fire.
I was glad Harry and Laurie looked so well when they came home. I haven't much news but will let you know all when I come.
Excuse this short note as the weather is so trying and I feel just knocked out. With fond love to the girls, yourself and children. Also Harry and boys.
I remain your affect sister. F.Card.
*I presume she is referring to older sister Jane. By this comment, they must have been estranged.

DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE
ADULTERY AND DESERTION. Perth, March 12 . Albert Card, for some time town clerk at North Perth; was the respondent in a divorce suit which was heard in the Supreme Court this morning before the Chief Justice. Emily Florence Card was the petitioner. The evidence showed that in 1905 Albert Card left for England. He corresponded with is wife regularly for two years, and then remained silent. It was learned afterwards that he was living in London with a woman who figured as Madame Montague, in the business of phrenologists and hand-readers, which she and Card carried on. His Honour said that adultery and desertion had been proved, and there would be a dissolution of marriage. The order nisi was made returnable in three months.
