YOUNG EARL'S MOTHER. CHANCERY SUIT LIKELY. LONDON, April 7.
The London Daily Express says: It is understood that the 15-year-old, eighth Earl Poulett (pronounced 'Paulet'), who is now studying at Eton, is the centre of a dispute between his mother and the trustees, because the latter are alleged to be endeavouring to deprive the mother of the guardianship of the young peer, and his sister, Lady Bridget Elizabeth, who is three years the earl's junior. The battle is likely to be fought out in the Chancery Court, although the details will not be made public. The young earl's mother- the Countess Poulett, formerly Miss Sylvia Lilian Storey, daughter of Fred Storey, artist and comedian, was appearing in the Gaiety Theatre, at Havana, when she was married to the seventh earl in 1908. Her husband died on active service in 1918, and the present holder of the title is the only son.

GIBSON GIRL BRIDES.
Ballet girls of the old Gaiety Theatre contributed several of their members to the peerage. Thirty years ago cadets of many noble families hung about the stage doors of that establishment like flies round a jam-pot, and in some cases marriage was the result. But the records of the old Gaiety were far behind the experiences of the "Gibson Girls". Within the past half-dozen years 12 of that company have married title or fortune, or both. There have (writes a London correspondent, under date September 4) been two such weddings within the past fortnight. Miss Elsie Kay was touring with Mr. Seymour Hicks's " Gay Gordons" Company in Ireland. She came to London, married a Mr. Ronald M'Andrew, son of the wealthy member of a shipbuilding firm, Laird and M'Andrew, of Liverpool and Glasgow. Miss Kay's intimation of the event to her employer was laconic. "Here. Got married. Cannot come back. So sorry." This week has witnessed a more important marriage of the kind. The lady is Sylvia Storey, the daughter of Mr. Fred Storey, the agile comedian, who, with Nellie Farran and Fred Leslie, kept the old Gaiety burlesque going for many years. Mr. Storey still tours round the halls. The lady has lately been acting at the New Gaiety, in " Havana," under the name of Olive May, but is better known as one of Mr. Hicks's company performing in "The Gay Gordons." Miss Storey has been made a countess by her marriage with the young Earl Poulett. The ceremony took place, not in a registry office, but at St. James's, Piccadilly. The earl and the girl met unostentatiously at the church, and only four other persons were present, all in ordinary walking dress, of whom Lady Violet Wingfield, the earl's sister, was the best known. The marriage recalls the romantic story of "Lord Hinton" the organ grinder, who claimed the Poulett title against the young bridegroom of this week. In 1899 the House of Lords decided thot, though tho organ-grinder was born in wedlock, he was not the son of the sixth earl. The present is the seventh earl. His father was twice - married after the death of his first wife, who was the mother of the organ-grinder. Besides the cases of Miss Kay and Miss Storey above referred to, the following is a list or actresses, known as " Gibson Girls," who have married titles or fortunes: Miss. Camille Clifford married the eldest son of Lord Aberdale; Miss Eva Carrington was married to Lord de Clifford; Miss Hild Harris, to one of the Drummonds, of Drummond's Bank; Miss Barbara Deane. married Mr. Basil Loder; Miss Kathleen Dawn married Mr. Hardinge, a ward of the Duke of Portland; Miss Gates married Baron von Ditton; Miss Eva Hillisdon married the Marquess de Florae; Miss Mary Fairbairn married Mr. Smithton, an American millionaire ; Mr. Peter Kelly, another American millionaire, married Miss May Kennedy; and Miss Christina Humphries also married an American millionaire, a Mr. Anderson. After such a list of experiences it is not surprising the ranks of the "Gibson Girls" never diminish. They constitute the most sucecssful marriage mart-outside the methods of Orientalism. Two other well-known actresses have also been recently married-Miss Edna May to Mr. Oscar Lewisohn, and Miss Denise Orme to Mr. J. Yarde
Butler.

Earl and Countess Poulett are making a tour round the world, having started in March in the steamship Moolton from Toolbury. They will spend some time in India, and then go to Japan, and they will return to England by way of Cali- fornia and New York. They expect to be away almost a year. Countess Poulett was Miss Sylvia Storey, a daughter of the well known comedian, Mr. Fred Storey. Her little son, Viscount Hinton, was born last year.
